Olemiss International Graduate Student suffer with dental pain
MORE THAN 1000 INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ARE STUDYING AT OLEMISS. MANY OF THEM HAVE DENTAL PROBLEMS, BUT THEY DON’T HAVE ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE DENTAL CARE. NEWSWATCH REPORTER AHMED SHATIL ALAM HAS THE STORY.
IMDADUL IS AN INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE STUDENT AT PHARMACY SCHOOL AT OLEMISS. HE HAD TOOTH ACHE A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO, BUT THE STUDENT HEALTH CENTER COULD NOT TREAT IT. THE DOCTOR ADVISED HIM TO VISIT A DENTAL CLINIC IN OXFORD.
(SOT: :11) “I did not go to the dental experts, because it is very huge, very much costly and for an international graduate student it is difficult to maintain the expense.” CUTAWAYS
(STAND UP:- :12)
This is one of the dental chambers where the international students of Olemiss are referred to go by Student Health Center. But students say they could afford the charges of the dental chambers.
SOME INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS SAID AT LEAST $400 NEEDED TO HAVE A SIMPLE DENTAL PROCEDURE IN OXFORD WITHOUT INSURANCE. THE HEALTH CENTER OFFICIALS SAY THAT THEY CANNOT OFFER DENTAL SERVICES AT OLE MISS BECAUSE OF INFTASTRUCTURE PROBLEMS.
(SOT: :12) “There is no immediate plan. We have no more room in this building. We are totally maxed out with our space. We cannot have another room for another provider even at this point.”
